Hydrogen cyanide has emerged as an endogenous signalling molecule in plants (Diaz-Rueda et al., J Exp Bot, 2023) and mammals (Zuhra et al., Nature Metabol, 2025). These discoveries elevate hydrogen cyanide (HCN) to the position of the fourth mammalian gasotransmitter, with NO, CO, and H₂S being the first three such molecules.
At the meeting, we will organize a special session on the regulatory roles of cyanide, with the participation of an international group of experts.
Plenary lectures:
State-Of-The-Art Lecture: Endogenous cyanide signalling pathways in health and disease.
Csaba Szabo –– University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland
State-Of-The-Art Lecture: Cyanide neutralization methods.
Gerry Boss –– University of California San Diego, San Diego, CA, USA
State-Of-The-Art Lecture: Cyanide detection methods.
Brian Logue –– South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD, USA
State-Of-The-Art Lecture: Chemical tools for investigating biological cyanide.
Michael Pluth –– University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, USA
